Overview

Andrew N. Choi is an attorney in Holland & Knight's New York office and a member of the firm's Litigation Practice Group. Mr. Choi's practice is substantially comprised of commercial and business litigation and arbitration.

Mr. Choi represents clients in state and federal litigation and arbitration matters. His clients encompass a wide range of industries, including real estate, healthcare, entertainment, labor and airlines.

In addition to his commercial practice, Mr. Choi handles considerable pro bono work to help immigrant children and serves on the New York Advisory Committee for Kids In Need of Defense (KIND). He has also written extensively on issues relating to distributed ledger technology, and in particular the metaverse and decentralized autonomous organizations (DAO).

While attending New York University School of Law, Mr. Choi was a board member of the NYU Mediation Organization, where he trained law students to be volunteer mediators for the New York City Small Claims Court. Mr. Choi also interned at the Brennan Center for Justice, working on voting rights issues in the Democracy Program.

Prior to entering the legal profession, Mr. Choi received his Ph.D. in philosophy from The Ohio State University, where he taught classes in ethics, logic and aesthetics. He was also a concert violinist, trained at The Juilliard School, and a first prize winner of the American String Teachers Association's 50th Biennial National Solo Competition.

In addition to his active practice of law, Mr. Choi continues to be involved with music as a singer-songwriter. In 2021, he was profiled in Rolling Stone as one of its Artists You Need to Know, and was subsequently featured on the cover of The Princeton Alumni Weekly, which dubbed Mr. Choi "The Philosopher Musician." His song "Thurgood Marshall" was featured in Time magazine as part of the pop culture history of the late U.S. Supreme Court Justice. AllMusic notes that Mr. Choi's "creative pursuits have resulted in some of the most unique and unconventionally thrilling pop music in the late 2010s."
