Howard Sokol is a partner in the Litigation Section of Holland & Knight's New York City office. He focuses on labor, employment and benefits matters on behalf of management before state and federal courts and administrative agencies.

Mr. Sokol's experience includes representing both national and international employers in matters involving issues under the Occupational Safety and Health Act, National Labor Relations Act, federal and state employment discrimination laws, as well as in related workers' compensation and unemployment insurance proceedings. Mr. Sokol also provides counseling and advice on restrictive covenants; preparation and review of employment practice manuals and handbooks and executive agreements; whistle-blowing; employment-related torts, including defamation, negligent hiring and retention; wage and hour claims; and a myriad of other aspects of employee/management relationships and their commercial impact on clients' business goals and operational necessities.

Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Sokol worked as a management and marketing consultant focused primarily on developing targeted print advertising and promotional campaigns for, among other businesses, those in the financial services, insurance, retail and consumer, and communications industry sectors.

While in law school, Mr. Sokol was an Associate Articles and Notes Editor on the St. John's Law Review. He also is a contributing author to the American Bar Association’s treatise, Occupational Safety and Health Law.
