Dip In Antitrust Suits Shows Limits Of Plaintiffs Bar

Federal courts saw a 20 percent drop in new antitrust complaints in 2014. The drop-off is in part because courts are generally tougher on class actions, and it is more difficult to get a class action certified.

Jerome Hoffman, attorney and leader of Holland & Knight’s Antitrust Team, said, “A lot of the cases that used to get filed on a wing and prayer aren’t there anymore."
