Holland & Knight Announces 16 New Partners

MIAMI (December 17, 2014) – Steven Sonberg, managing partner of Holland & Knight, announced 16 attorneys in the firm have been elected to partnership effective January 1, 2015. Eleven associates and five senior counsel from various offices throughout the firm have been elevated. They are:

Boston
Associate elevated to partnership:
Maximillian J. Bodoin is a member of the firm’s Litigation Section and the Cybersecurity and Privacy Team, and practices in the areas of intellectual property licensing, information technology and outsourcing transactions, information security and privacy compliance, and electronic commerce. He also has extensive experience advising clients in the public transportation industry with respect to project delivery and procurement. He received his B.S. and B. Phil. degrees from the University of Pittsburgh and his J.D. degree from Boston College Law School.

Chicago
Associates elevated to partnership:
Robyn C. Axberg is a member of the firm’s Business Section and focuses on mergers and acquisitions, entrepreneurs, and the legal profession. She received her B.S.B.A. degree from the University of Texas at Dallas and her J.D. degree from Loyola University Chicago School of Law.

Hart M. Passman is a member of the firm’s Real Estate Section and practices in the area of land use and local government, representing both municipalities and private sector clients on a wide variety of development, zoning and governance matters. He received his B.A. degree from Washington University in St. Louis and his J.D. degree from Northwestern University School of Law.

Christine Quigley is a member of the firm’s Business Section practicing in the Private Wealth Services group. She advises affluent individuals and families in wealth transfer planning, tax planning, estate and trust administration, and business succession planning. Ms. Quigley earned her B.A. degree from Dartmouth College and her J.D. degree from Loyola University Chicago School of Law.

Associates elevated to partnership:
Michael D. Emerson is a member of the firm’s Business Section and represents a variety of financial institutions, including banks, finance companies and hedge funds, in connection with their lending and other finance transactions. He received his J.D. degree from the University of Texas School of Law and his B.B.A. degree from Texas Christian University.

Angelique Lehmann Waddell is a member of the firm’s Business Section and represents agent banks, investment banks, hedge funds and other institutional investors in structured financings, leveraged and acquisition financings, and other forms of debt and equity financings. She received her J.D. degree from Tulane University Law School and her B.B.A. degree from the University of Mississippi.

Senior Counsel elevated to partnership:
Paul W. Smith is a member of the firm’s Business Section and focuses on mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital transactions, public offerings, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reporting, compliance and corporate governance matters. He earned his B.B.A. degree from the University of Texas at Austin, his MBA degree from the University of Houston, and his J.D. degree from the University of Houston Law Center.

Los Angeles
Associate elevated to partnership:
Stacey H. Wang is a member of the firm’s Litigation Section and handles intellectual property, business fraud, and antitrust/unfair competition actions. She also represents companies and executives in criminal and regulatory investigations and handles complex internal and cross-border investigations. She received her B.A. degree from the University of California (Berkeley), her MBA degree from Loyola Marymount University, and her J.D. degree from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles.

Miami
Associates elevated to partnership:
Monica Vila Castro is a member of the firm’s Litigation Section and practices in the areas of appellate litigation and trial support. She earned her B.B.A. degree from the University of Miami and her J.D. degree from the University of Florida Levin College of Law.

Eric Ray is a member of the firm’s Litigation Section and represents clients in the area of commercial litigation. He received his B.A. degree from Colgate University and his J.D. degree from the University of Miami School of Law.

New York
Senior Counsel elevated to partnership:
Renee I. Covitt is a member of the firm’s Real Estate Section and advises clients in a wide range of complex real estate transactions, such as the purchase, sale, financing and leasing of commercial and residential properties. She received her B.A. degree from Binghamton University and her J.D. degree from Fordham University School of Law.

Samuel Spital is a member of the firm’s Litigation Section and focuses his practice on appeals and complex litigation, including cases involving issues of federal jurisdiction, choice of law and the enforceability of arbitration agreements. Mr. Spital also devotes a substantial portion of his practice to pro bono matters, in particular to post-conviction appeals and voting rights cases. He received his A.B. degree from Harvard College and his J.D. degree from Harvard Law School.

Eric H. Yecies is a member of the firm’s Litigation Section and focuses on litigating intellectual property matters for a wide array of industries and in a variety of technical disciplines, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, biologics and optics. He earned his B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and his J.D. degree from New York University School of Law.

San Francisco
Associate elevated to partnership:
Chelsea Maclean is a member of the firm’s Government Section and focuses on environmental and land-use law. She counsels clients on all aspects of regulatory compliance under federal and state environmental laws, with a particular concentration on the California Environmental Quality Act, property due diligence and entitlements. She received her B.A. degree from the University of California (San Diego) and her J.D. degree from the University of California Hastings College of the Law.

Washington, D.C.
Associate elevated to partnership:
Antonia I. Tzinova is a member of the firm’s Business Section and practices in the areas of international trade, foreign direct investment and industrial security. She received her LL.M. degree from Sofia University Law School in Bulgaria and her J.D. degree from George Washington University Law School.

Senior Counsel elevated to partnership:
William Levay is a member of the firm’s Business Section and focuses his practice on assisting financial institutions and corporations on a range of corporate, securities and regulatory matters. He received his B.A. degree from Georgetown University and his J.D. degree from Villanova University School of Law.
