Holland & Knight Senior Policy Advisor Beth Viola Recognized as Energy & Environmental Trailblazer by National Law Journal

WASHINGTON (May 24, 2016) – Holland & Knight senior policy advisor Beth Viola has been named an Energy & Environmental Trailblazer by the National Law Journal. Ms. Viola is among a select group of attorneys and professionals recognized by the publication as outstanding practitioners who have made their mark in energy and environmental law and policy. She is profiled in a special "Energy & Environmental Trailblazers" supplement, which was published in the May 23 issue.

Ms. Viola is the co-chair of Holland & Knight’s Energy Team. The primary focus of her practice is advising clean energy technology companies on creating sound public policy drivers for their businesses. She also works with business leaders and nonprofits to advance effective climate change strategies that result in economic and environmental benefits.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Ms. Viola served as a senior advisor to the White House Council on Environmental Quality during the Clinton administration, concentrating on a number of policy issues including climate change, natural resources and smart growth. She was one of Vice President Gore’s chief environmental advisors during the last year of her tenure and served as a senior advisor on energy and environmental policy during his presidential campaign, a role she also played in Sen. John Kerry’s presidential campaign four years later.

National Law Journal notes Ms. Viola’s success in bringing together industry, environmental and government leaders on some of the most complex issues of our time with respect to climate, biofuels and power plant regulation and quotes her on future areas of exploration: "How do we continue to make progress as we are trying to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and deal with very dynamic energy markets and changes in how we consume energy?
