Pro bono service for ARDC woes offered by firm

Holland & Knight's new pro bono program helps lawyers in financial need get representation. Attorney Trisha Rich said she and other attorneys who have handled Attorney Registration & Disciplinary Commission cases saw a need for such a program. The Attorney Defense Initiative, which Ms. Rich coordinates from Chicago, recruits volunteers from local law firms to defend attorneys facing disciplinary action in Illinois.

“We have seen lawyers who are unemployed, underemployed, new attorneys, attorneys at nonprofits, government lawyers,” Ms. Rich said. “There’s a whole host of lawyers that can get in trouble and can’t afford defense counsel.”
