DNA Evidence Used to Request New Trials
Our lawyers filed Chad Heins' motion for post conviction relief based on his DNA results not matching DNA found at the crime scene. The court granted the motion for post conviction relief and stated that the defendant is entitled to a new trial. The state, however, has appealed the ruling.
Representation of Veterans Who Lost Their Benefits
Our Jacksonville lawyers and the Jacksonville Area Legal Aid (JALA) worked together to assist Veterans who had been deceived into signing criminally usurious loans with a company targeting veterans.
Representation of Veterans in a Home Equity Class Action Law Suit
Our lawyers represented veterans who were lured into selling the equity in their homes. As a result of the class action suit, one client received a substantial amount of the equity in her home back and the other client received a cash settlement.
Holland & Knight Assists in Murder Case in Jacksonville
Our Jacksonville lawyers were responsible for preparing the Worthen murder case for trial, including taking numerous depositions, engaging in discovery and plea negotiations with the state's attorney, as well as working first hand with investigators, examining the crime scene and working with DNA findings.
