Watch the Holland & Knight Reception with United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie to Announce New National Center for Refugee and Immigrant Children
On March 8, 2005 Holland & Knight LLP hosted a reception in the J.W. Marriott Hotel in Washington, D.C. in conjunction with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants, and the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
The event announced the new National Center for Refugee and Immigrant Children and featured an address from UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie. The center, which was founded through a generous donation by Jolie, will help children meaningfully access asylum and other forms of humanitarian protection by seeking lawyers to donate their time to these cases. For more on the Center, please visit their website.
As a national leader in pro bono representation for these children and a founding firm donating 2000 pro bono hours to the new center, Holland & Knight also broadcast the event live via video conference to the firm's offices around the country, including Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Ft. Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Lakeland, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Orlando, Providence, San Antonio, San Francisco, St. Petersburg, Seattle, Tallahassee, Tampa and West Palm Beach. Additionally, the video was fed into receptions held in Charlotte, Houston and Dallas by other participating law firms.
