Hope VI and Mixed Finance Transactions
In order to revitalize our nation's aging public housing stock, the HOPE VI Program combines grants from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development with debt and equity from the private sector to create a true public/private partnership. These transactions involve public housing agencies, private developers, equity investors and institutional lenders working together to renovate and rebuild our public housing. Members of Holland & Knight’s Syndication Practice Group have been involved with HOPE VI since the inception of the program, representing and/or providing consulting services to equity investors, developers, housing authorities, lenders, bond issuers and underwriters, and other parties. Holland & Knight is a recognized leader in the affordable housing industry.
Breadth of Experience
Our lawyers have worked extensively with Public Housing Authorities (PHAs), HUD, developers, equity investors and other participants in mixed-finance and HOPE VI projects. We have assisted in acquisition, development and redevelopment, and assisted both with nonprofit and for-profit organizations to fashion successful mixed-finance and mixed-income projects without HOPE VI funds – maneuvering through HUD, IRS and other regulations to find the best combination of funds. We have extensive experience in representing equity investors in mixed finance and HOPE VI transactions.
