Education Policy Practice Studies the No Child Left Behind Act
In 2006, the firm's attorneys and professional practitioners participated extensively in education-related public policy initiatives. With assistance from volunteers in five Holland & Knight offices, the group conducted an investigation that led to the report, "It Takes a Parent: Transforming Education in the Wake of the No Child Left Behind Act," released by a non-partisan, non-profit organization working to identify and address injustices in the community. Working closely with an international accounting and consulting firm and the nation's oldest and largest graduate school for education, the team helped frame the project, then developed and executed an appropriate strategy. The group also provided leadership in the reading campaign of a national non-profit organization – which involved 18,000 child participants throughout all of San Antonio's elementary schools and set a Guinness World Record for reading.
