$1.1 Million in Federal Funding for Muscular Dystrophy Research Initiative, Pediatric Imaging Center and Children's Hospital

On behalf of the largest healthcare system in the Carolinas and the third largest public healthcare system nationally, Holland & Knight's Public Policy and Regulations Team worked with House and Senate Members from both North and South Carolina to secure $1.1 million in federal funding, as well as successfully including regulatory language addressing our client's needs. Of the $1.1 million appropriated, $550,000 was earmarked for a Muscular Dystrophy Research Initiative, $400,000 is for the planning and construction of a pediatric imaging center and $150,000 is for the continued construction of the children's hospital. In addition, our team successfully inserted regulatory language ensuring research into Duchennes Disease will be funded by the federal government, as well as language to fully fund Poison Control Center activities and maintain the Health Resources and Services Administration's (HRSA) current structure of mixed grantees, including single-state grantees.
