$200,000 Appropriations Request for Network of "Green Corridors"

Holland & Knight lawyers were instrumental in including report language that contained $200,000 for a non-motorized, multi-use trail system. The trail system is designed to preserve a network of “green corridors” in the burgeoning suburbs of a prominent metropolitan area. When completed, the 98-mile trail system will connect two state parks, four county parks, gardens, equestrian facilities, rural communities, population centers, and a neighboring city. Using a variety of environmentally friendly materials, the non-motorized paths would accommodate horse, pedestrian and bike traffic and also minimize impact to the surrounding landscape and maximize the rural experience. The appropriations request also ties into legislation that we are drafting and will be introduced this fall to expand one of the most successful National Parks in an urban setting, and the boundary expansion legislation (if adopted) will effectively double the size of the recreation area and preserve even more of this beautiful river corridor for future generations to enjoy.
