Representation Before Appeals Court Overturns Trial Court's Dismissal
Holland & Knight successfully represented plaintiff/appellant, a national religious denomination, before the Appeals Court in overturning the trial court's dismissal of a complaint, claiming ownership of approximately $40 million of church assets and property that had been taken by disaffiliating local church. The case will be argued and further considered by the Supreme Judicial Court because of issues implicating the First Amendment and separation of church and state.
