$60 Million Concert Hall Construction Dispute Settled

Beginning in 2003, Holland & Knight represented the California nonprofit, public-benefit company that raised the funds, selected the architect, hired the contractor and supervised the construction of the Walt Disney Concert Hall – the much-acclaimed new icon of Los Angeles. Holland & Knight defended the client in 19 consolidated actions involving 29 parties. The contractors sought approximately $60 million in cost overruns. After initial discovery and an extended mediation, the cases were settled in 2006 for a client contribution representing its estimated defense costs.
