In the District of Columbia, we provide tactical counsel with regard to the 2006 Green Building Act and the 2008 Clean and Affordable Energy Act. These mandates require newly constructed and substantially renovated private buildings to become LEED certified by 2012 and private buildings with at least 50,000 square feet of gross floor area to report their Energy Star efficiency ratings by 2013.
