November 13, 2001
The Trade Negotiations Committee of the Free Trade Agreement of the Americas (FTAA) has adopted a set of guidelines on the treatment of smaller economies. The guidelines address differences in the size of FTAA economies and are intended to, among other things, provide a flexible framework to accommodate the needs of each FTAA participant, include transitional measures and take into account existing market access conditions of countries in the hemisphere.
