Office of Defense Trade Controls (ODTC)
November 19, 2001
- Effective November 2, 2001, the ODTC within the U.S. Department of State has lifted certain aspects of the missile proliferation sanctions imposed on the Pakistani Ministry of Defense (MOD) in November 2000. The waivers allow for the sale and export to Pakistan of defense articles or defense services in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Several missile proliferation sanctions will remain in place, including a prohibition on new State or Commerce export licenses to and new U.S. Government contracts with the Pakistani MOD in the absence of a determination that the transaction is within the scope of the waiver described above. The waivers will remain in effect until November 21, 2002, or until otherwise notified prior to this date. Please consult your Holland & Knight attorney for more details.
