- The USTR has issued the 2002 Comprehensive Report on U.S.
Trade and Investment Policy Toward Sub-Saharan Africa and Implementation of the
African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA). The document, which is required by
the Act, reports that U.S. imports from sub-Saharan Africa increased 61.5
percent over the last two years, and that U.S. exports to the region grew to
record levels of nearly $7 billion in 2001. The report also provides expanded
country information on AGOA-related trade and investment activities, and a
section on potential free trade agreements with sub-Saharan African countries.
