November 26, 2002

The Office of International Investment in the Department of the Treasury has issued a proposed rule to permit the electronic filing of the voluntary notice under 31 C.F.R. Part 800 (Foreign investments in United States, Investigations, National Defense, Reporting and Recordkeeping Requirements) with the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS).  This proposed regulation provides parties with the additional option of filing electronically, providing just a single signed paper copy to CFIUS.  Currently, filers are required to provide CFIUS with 13 paper copies.  Written comments on the proposed rule may be submitted on or before December 23, 2002.  Commenters are encouraged to e-mail comments to CFIUS@do.treas.gov.  A copy of the proposed rules and additional information on filing comments is available http://a257.g.akamaitech.net/7/257/2422/14mar20010800/edocket.access.gpo.gov/2002/02-29622.htm.
