March 17, 2003

The U.S. Department of Commerce and the Export-Import Bank of the United States announced on February 20, 2003, that the agencies have adopted two new measures to "better coordinate export-counseling services and streamline and simplify access to financing for U.S. firms that compete for international export sales."

  • Those seeking general support and trade-finance assistance or information on federal trade programs who call the Ex-Im Bank's toll-free line (1-800-565-EXIM) will be directly routed to the Department of Commerce's Trade Information Center (TIC), which can be reached directly at 1-800-USA-TRADE (online:  http://www.export.gov/tic).  Ex-Im Bank staff will join with the TIC to answer questions regarding Ex-Im Bank programs.
  • Companies contacting the Department of Commerce Trade Advocacy Center for the purposes of assistance with bidding on foreign procurement contracts will be linked with the Ex-Im Bank for export financing information.
