Holland & Knight West Coast Expansion Adds Product Liability Litigators

Holland & Knight LLP and Weiss Jensen Ellis & Howard, with offices in Portland, Oregon, and Seattle, Washington, combined their practices on October 5, 2001. The addition of Weiss Jensen Ellis & Howard's 22 lawyers brought four more product liability litigators to Holland & Knight.

Portland Office

Joel Leonard is a partner in the Portland office. He has significant medical, healthcare and product liability experience. He is currently involved in a large number of allegedly defective building materials cases (involving synthetic stucco). Joel's previous product liability experience includes automobile ignition defects litigation and defective animal feed formulation.

Seattle Office

The Seattle office product liability litigators include Patrick Pearce, Christopher Howard and James Thomas. Thomas, a veteran of the asbestos litigation days, has focused more on construction defect litigation and commercial litigation in recent years.

Christopher Howard worked in asbestos, toxic shock syndrome litigation, and a wide variety of other products defense, including bakery machinery, appliance fires and drug litigation. His practice has a medical emphasis.

Patrick Pearce has significant automotive product liability experience with regard to motor vehicle parts and components. He also has worked on claims involving household and home products such as faucets, diving boards, electric blankets and heaters.
