April 22, 2008: Earth Day 2008 at Bryant: China and the Environment
Dr. Hongjun Zhang’s lecture topic was “The Emerging Environmental Legal and Policy System of China: Today and Tomorrow” at the U.S.-China Institute at Bryant University in Rhode Island. April 24, 2008: Information Technology Industry Council Spring Meeting
Tad Ferris presented to the council on regulatory issues for the information technology industry in China, with briefing materials that he and Hongjun Zhang jointly prepared. Washington, D.C.
May 19-22, 2008: Sponsorship of the ENCSS Annual Meeting in the United States
Holland & Knight sponsored the 2008 ENCSS Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. Hongjun Zhang and Tad Ferris were the contacts for this event sponsorship.
ENCSS is the Environment & Public Health Network for Chinese Students and Scholars. ENCSS is a formal and highly influential network of 200 researchers from China placed at universities and other organizations across the U.S. to investigate and learn about public health, environmental policy and other issues. Among the ENCSS goals are advising senior Chinese government officials on environmental and health policy, and coordinating on comparative international research in these areas based on their observations while in the U.S. ENCSS annual meetings are attended by members of the international regulatory community and multinational corporations. At the 2008 annual meeting, participants also included representatives of China’s Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) and Center for Disease Control (under the Ministry of Health).
