New Illinois "Pay-to-Play" Provisions in Effect

January 30, 2009

The State of Illinois has implemented complex "pay-to-play" provisions that create new registration and reporting requirements for State contractors and bidders. These provisions were created by an act of the Illinois state legislature and an executive order by Governor Blagojevich. If you do business with the State of Illinois, you should take a close look at the new Illinois "pay-to-play" provisions to determine whether the registration and reporting requirements apply to your operations.

These provisions restrict campaign contributions by certain state contractors and employees and requires certain business entities to register with the State Board of Elections by Monday, Feb. 2, 2009.

The following Illinois websites contain information on the new "pay-to-play" provisions.
