ACQ Finance Magazine Names Holland & Knight North American Shipping and Maritime Law Firm of the Year

October 7, 2009

WASHINGTON, D.C. – October 7, 2009 – Holland & Knight is pleased to announce that it has been named Shipping and Maritime Law Firm of the Year in the 2nd annual ACQ Finance Magazine Law Awards for 2009. Building on more than 150 years of transportation experience, Holland & Knight has the largest and most geographically diverse maritime practice of any law firm in the United States.

"It is an honor for Holland & Knight and the firm's maritime and shipping transportation attorneys to be recognized in our highly competitive market by our peers," said Bill Honan, practice group leader of the firm's Maritime Practice Group. "We continue to build on our transportation experience in order to better serve our clients in this complex industry."

"Both our maritime finance and corporate practices have seen an upswing in 'first impression' issues and transaction restructurings caused by the current economic pressures on the shipping industry. As a result, our litigation and corporate / finance teams have been working closely together with our insolvency and other experts, to serve our maritime clients in an increasingly wide spectrum of problems," added Nancy Hengen, the firm's head of Maritime Finance.

ACQ Finance Magazine Law Awards are presented across 33 geographical regions. They were created to recognize and salute the organizations & advisers that have performed to exceptional levels during the most difficult period that the global economy has experienced for decades. Winners are determined by an independent poll of industry professionals.

ACQ Finance Magazine is a business publication that focuses on in-depth features, expert commentary and lighter-hearted viewpoints mixed with straight-line transaction news and analysis on deal making.
