NEW YORK – Holland & Knight's national aviation and shipping transportation practice has once again received a No. 1 ranking in New York and the nation from Chambers and Partners for the 2009 Chambers USA – America’s Leading Business Lawyers guide. Building on over 150 years of transportation experience, Holland & Knight has the largest and most geographically diverse maritime practice of any law firm in the United States.

Holland & Knight received a No. 1 ranking by Chambers USA in transportation in the following categories:

      • shipping: litigation

The guide also named Holland & Knight aviation and shipping transportation partners Robert Craft, Nancy Hengen, William Honan, Chester Hooper, James Hohenstein, Michael Frevola, Anita Mosner, William Piels, John Pritchard, Jovi Tenev and Matthew Vafidis as leading business lawyers in their individual practices.

"It is an honor for Holland & Knight and the firm's aviation and shipping transportation attorneys to once again be recognized in our highly competitive market by our clients and peers," said Honan, practice group leader of the firm's Maritime Practice Group. "We continue to build on our transportation experience in order to better serve our clients in this complex industry."

Holland & Knight's transportation lawyers represent clients in such areas as casualty, arbitration, marine pollution, secured transactions, purchase and sale, financing, government regulations, tax and capital markets.

The Chambers USA guide is designed to reflect market opinion through a year's worth of surveys of clients and lawyers across the U.S. It is one of a series of Chambers and Partners independent, objective and research-based guides to the legal profession. The qualities on which rankings are assessed include technical legal ability, professional conduct, client service, commercial astuteness, diligence, commitment, and other qualities most valued by clients.
