Holland & Knight’s Shipping Practice Honored with Top Ranking in Chambers and Partners Global Guide

NEW YORK – Holland & Knight LLP announced that its shipping practice has received a #1 ranking in Chambers and Partners Global Guide 2006. The ranking is the result of a year-long survey of more than 6,500 lawyers in 170 countries. Building on over 150 years of maritime and shipping practice that included combining in 1997 with Haight Gardner Poor & Havens, Holland & Knight has the largest and most geographically diverse maritime practice of any law firm in the United States.

Seven lawyers from Holland & Knight’s shipping practice were also recognized as leaders in their field. They include: Nancy Hengen, William Honan, Chester Hooper, James Shirley, Brian Starer, Audrey Sung and Jovi Tenev.

In each country, Chambers ranks firms, practices and individual lawyers on a scale of 1 to 6, with the best receiving the #1 ranking. The 2006 edition is based on evaluations of information compiled from more than 6,500 interviews. The qualities on which rankings are assessed include technical legal ability, professional conduct, client service, commercial awareness/astuteness, diligence, commitment and other values most valued by clients. Holland & Knight’s shipping practice also received a #1 ranking by Chambers USA 2005-2006.
