Roll Call Survey Names Holland & Knight Among Top U.S. Lobbying Firms
February 28, 2006
Firm Moves Up to 13th in Rankings for 2005
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Holland & Knight has moved up in Roll Call newspaper’s annual ranking of Washington, D.C. lobbying firms. According to Roll Call’s February 16 issue, the firm is now ranked 13th on the list of the 25 top grossing federal lobbying firms. Last year, Holland & Knight was ranked 19th.
Roll Call’s ranking is based on semi-annual disclosures made according to the Lobbying Disclosure Act of 1995 (LDA). Year-end data for 2005 was filed with the House and Senate on February 14. The fees reported under the LDA are about half of the total revenue generated by the firm''s advocacy activities because not all types of regulatory and agency intervention meet the LDA’s definition of "lobbying".
A survey that measures federal advocacy activity more broadly -- Influence magazine’s "Top-Grossing Lobbying Practices" -- will be published later this year. In 2004, Holland & Knight ranked 7th in the Influence magazine analysis, a standing that will likely improve as a result of the favorable 2005 lobbying revenue picture.
In addition to Roll Call recognizing the entire practice, the firm’s Indian Law practice was highlighted in the February 15 issue issue of The Hill newspaper as one of the top Indian Affairs advocacy practices in the nation. This ranking is based on feedback the newspaper obtains from major advocacy groups, congressional officials and other Washington insiders.
