Michael Starr Joins Holland and Knight’s Labor and Employment Practice in New York City

NEW YORK – Holland & Knight is pleased to announce that Michael Starr has joined the firm’s New York office as a Partner in the Labor and Employment Practice. Recognized by Chambers, Best Lawyers and others as a leading employment lawyer, Mr. Starr is expected to complement nicely Holland & Knight's national labor and employment practice.

Starr's practice ranges over all areas of employment and labor relations, representing management in trial and appellate litigation, as well as in NLRB proceedings, arbitration, and collective bargaining. Starr also counsels on preventative labor and employee relations.
A fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, Starr is nationally recognized in the areas of employment discrimination, non-competition and employee disloyalty litigation, and international employment law. He is often published on employment issues and is the regular employment law columnist for The National Law Journal.

Prior to joining the firm, Starr was a partner with Hogan & Hartson. He began his legal career as a law clerk to the Honorable Abner J. Mikva, Circuit Judge for the U.S. Court of Appeals in Washington, D.C.
Starr is a founding board member and member of the Board of Directors of the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), has recently served on the Pro Bono Panel of the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, and for more than a decade has served as a court-appointed mediator in employment and civil rights cases for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.

Starr received his B.A. summa cum laude, from The State University of New York, Binghamton University, holds a Ph.D in Philosophy from the University of Michigan and earned his J.D. from Yale Law School
Starr's arrival marks the fourth significant recent lateral addition to the firm's New York office, following Marc Reisler, Richard Raysman and Ed Pisacreta who all joined the Corporate M&A practice.
