Holland & Knight's Jennifer Hernandez Named One of the 50 Most Influential Minority Lawyers in America

May 30, 2008

Jennifer Hernandez - San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO – Holland & Knight is pleased to announce that Jennifer Hernandez, a partner in the firm's San Francisco office, was named one of the 50 Most Influential Minority Lawyers in America for 2008 by the National Law Journal. Lawyers selected to the list have had a national impact in their legal fields and beyond during the past five years, demonstrated the power to change the law, shape public affairs, launch industries and accomplish large projects.

Hernandez was nominated by Holland & Knight's Diversity Council for her significant role in brownfields, redevelopment and master planned community projects. She co-chairs Holland & Knight’s national Environmental Team and leads the West Coast Land Use and Environmental Law Team. Hernandez divides her time between the firm's San Francisco and Los Angeles offices.

"We are proud to support Jennifer and her land use and environmental practice, and appreciate her significant contributions to Holland & Knight," said Paul Thomas, Chief Diversity Officer and Diversity Partner for the law firm. "The firm has a long standing commitment to diversity which we put into action through firmwide and local committees, initiatives and affinity groups. We also are honored that the Minority Law Journal recently ranked Holland & Knight No. 2 for the most minority partners and No. 3 for the most Hispanic attorneys in the U.S."

Hernandez has authored two books and more than 30 articles on environmental and land use law. She has received several professional awards, including an American Planning Association Award for her book, A Practical Guide to the California Environmental Quality Act, the Greenlining Institute's Big Brain Award for developing a New Paradigm that Intersects Environmental and Inner-City Economic and Health Goals, and the Yerba Buena Alliance's Unsung Hero/Heroine Award for work on brownfields policies. Mayor Brown proclaimed Oct. 9, 2002 as Jennifer Hernandez Day in San Francisco for her work on sustainable land use and for being a "warrior on the brownfield."
