WASHINGTON, D.C. – The largest group of real estate lawyers in the United States adds another distinguished attorney to its nationally regarded team of more than 240 lawyers and professionals. Vernon S. Lynch III joins the firm as a partner practicing in the area of commercial real estate transactions in the Holland & Knight’s Washington, D.C., office, ranked earlier this year as the leading real estate practice in the D.C. market by Chambers USA – America’s Leading Business Lawyers.

Over the past 26 years, Lynch has focused his practice in a broad range of commercial real estate transactions with emphasis on real estate development, financing and leasing (especially in the areas of retail leasing), acquisitions/dispositions. His clients include national, regional and local developers; owners and landlords of shopping centers, regional malls and mixed-use projects; major and anchor retail tenants; and sellers and purchasers of retail store operations, shopping centers and office buildings.

“Holland & Knight has assembled a preeminent national real estate team to serve our clients’ diverse and increasingly complex needs in the areas of  real estate development and finance as well as in connection with the structuring, negotiating, managing and closing basic and complex real estate transactions,” said David Kahn, practice group leader of the firm’s Mid-Atlantic offices. “Vernon is an outstanding lawyer with an enviable reputation as one of the region’s most experienced and talented practitioners. We’re very excited that he has chosen to join us.”

Lynch currently is Special Real Estate Counsel to the Office of the Attorney General of Maryland and the Maryland State Retirement and Pension System in connection with the Pension System’s real estate investment program, and has represented the Pension System in the acquisition and leasing of more than a dozen shopping centers and office buildings totaling approximately 3.3 million square feet of space and the disposition of several of those assets. Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Lynch was a partner with Lynch & Nelson, LLC, in Baltimore and Columbia, Maryland. He is admitted to practice in Maryland and District of Columbia, and is a member of the Maryland and Washington, D.C., Bar Associations. He earned his bachelor’s degree at Morgan State University in 1975, and received his J.D. from University of Pennsylvania in 1978.
