ORLANDO, Fla. – Five attorneys in the Orlando
office of Holland & Knight have received Board Certification in Construction Law
from the Florida Bar. The lawyers, all of whom practice in the area of
commercial litigation with particular emphasis on construction law, include
partners Jim McCrae, Ken Richie, Ben Subin and Christopher Weiss and associate
Heather Pinder Rodriguez.
“Achieving this important Board Certification
designation demonstrates to our clients that these lawyers have taken the extra
step to have their competence and experience recognized,” said Andrew
Stephenson, firmwide practice group leader for the firm’s
Construction Industry Practice Group.
“Their
knowledge, skill and proficiency in construction law make them true leaders in
this practice area. Case in point, Heather Rodriguez is one of the youngest
lawyers in the state to receive board certification in construction law. We are
exceptionally proud of her accomplishment.”
Approved by the Supreme Court of Florida in
2004, Board Certification is the highest level of recognition by The Florida Bar
of the competency and experience of attorneys in the area of construction law.
Lawyers certified in construction law deal with matters relating to the design
and construction of improvements on private and public projects including, but
not limited to, construction dispute resolution; contract negotiation,
preparation, award and administration; lobbying in governmental hearings;
oversight and document review; construction scheduling analysis and delay
claims; lending and insurance; construction licensing; and the analysis and
litigation of problems arising out of the Florida Construction Lien Law.
