Holland & Knight's Natalie Thomas Receives Florida Bar Certification in Construction Law

TAMPA – Holland & Knight is pleased to announce that Natalie Thomas, an attorney in the firm's Tampa office, has received a Florida Bar Board Certification in Construction Law, the highest level of recognition in construction law given by the Florida Bar. In addition to meeting practice and ethics criteria for competency and experience, Thomas had to pass a written examination used to demonstrate her knowledge of construction law.
According to the Florida Bar, lawyers certified in construction law work with matters relating to the design and construction of improvements on private and public projects, including construction dispute resolution, contract negotiation, preparation, award and administration, lobbying in governmental hearings, oversight and document review, construction lending and insurance, construction licensing, and the analysis and litigation of problems arising out of the Florida Construction Lien Law and the federal Miller Act. The Florida Bar only offers board certifications in 22 practice areas.
Thomas practices in the area of commercial litigation with particular emphasis on construction law. She has represented contractors, subcontractors, design professionals, owners and sureties on various construction matters, including claims regarding defects in construction and design, delay damages, acceleration claims, lien foreclosures, default terminations, differing site condition claims, and bond claims. She also has experience in the drafting and negotiation of construction contract documents. Thomas is a member of the National Association of Women in Construction and the American Bar Association Forum on the Construction Industry.
