TAMPA – Louis T. M. Conti, a partner in the Orlando and Tampa offices of Holland & Knight, has been elected co-chair of the 2009 Florida Venture Capital Conference. The conference, which will be held in Naples, Fla., February 3-4, 2009, is organized by the Florida Venture Forum, a statewide organization that offers expert educational programming and networking events for venture capitalists, private equity sponsors, service providers and entrepreneurs.
As co-chair, Conti will be part of the team responsible for planning and executing all aspects of the 2009 Venture Capital Conference, including developing the conference program, selecting industry speakers and presenting companies, and coordinating networking and scheduled activities. The conference is designed for Florida-based companies seeking equity and debt capital to make presentations to venture capitalists, investment bankers and private equity investors.
Conti has been active with the Florida Venture Forum for more than eight years, having served as a board member, conference speaker, panel moderator and coach of presenting companies. The Florida Venture Forum recently concluded it's 2008 conference where twenty-three Florida-based companies looking for capital funding made presentations to more than 1200 in attendance.
Conti serves as the leader of the firm’s national Technology, Venture Capital, and Emerging Companies Team and coordinator of the firm’s Canada Initiative. He focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buy-outs, mezzanine and subordinated debt transactions, public and private securities placements, venture capital investments, recapitalizations, and advising companies in complex transactions and governance matters.
Conti also is an adjunct professor of law at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, and the current secretary/treasurer of the Business Law Section of the Florida Bar. He has been listed in the Best Lawyers in America for more than 10 years, Who's Who in American Law, Florida Super Lawyers, Corporate Counsel Best Lawyers in Corporate Law, Florida Trend Legal Elite and Orlando's Best Lawyers.
