Holland & Knight Partner Marilyn Holifield Appointed to Executive Committee of the Harvard Alumni Association

MIAMI – Marilyn Holifield, a litigation partner in the Miami office of Holland & Knight, has been appointed to the Executive Committee of the Harvard Alumni Association (HAA) to serve as Secretary.

Holifield has been actively involved in HAA activities for a number of years. In 2003, she received the second highest number of votes from alumni, nearly 24, 000 votes, when she was elected as a director to a three year term. Last year, Holifield served as a member of the Ad Hoc Shared Interest Groups Committee of the Association before she was appointed to the Executive Committee.

Holifield practices in the general litigation area, with a specific emphasis on representing corporate clients. Her practice includes employment, business litigation, corporate governance, trade secrets, covenants-not-to-compete, class action and intellectual property litigation. Holifield has successfully represented corporate clients as lead counsel in jury and nonjury trials, arbitrations and administrative proceedings. She has co-authored an article on Florida’s covenant-not-to-compete statute.

Holifield is the co-leader of the Firm's Caribbean Initiative, which provides assistance to the U.S. based corporations doing business in the Caribbean and Caribbean based businesses and governmental agencies.

Harvard has more than 300,000 Alumni. The HAA, with origins dating back to 1840, serves more than 190 Harvard clubs in over 70 countries. In addition to providing services to domestic and international Harvard Clubs, the duties of the HAA include nominating candidates for Board of Overseers of the University and conducting the Annual Meeting of the Harvard Alumni Association on the afternoon of Commencement Day.
