Lt Col Santiago Vaca Joins Holland & Knight as a Senior Policy Advisor in the Public Policy & Regulation Group in Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON – Holland & Knight announced today that Lt. Col. Santiago Vaca, former Deputy Chief of the Air Force’s Congressional Budget and Appropriations Liaison (House), has joined the firm's Washington, D.C. office as a Senior Policy Advisor in the Public Policy & Regulation Practice Group.

Lt. Col. Vaca will focus his practice on appropriations, defense issues, and national security. He has a deep understanding of the congressional budget, appropriations and authorization process, as well as significant experience with Air Force and Department of Defense military programs and processes.

“We are delighted to have Col. Vaca join the Holland and Knight team. He is exceptionally knowledgeable with military and defense issues, a skilled negotiator and someone who truly understands the Congressional budget process,” said Rich Gold, head of Holland & Knight's public policy & regulation practice.

As the Air Force's deputy chief of the Congressional Budget and Appropriation Liaison he worked as the service's primary connection to all House and Senate Budget Appropriations Committee Members and staff. He developed and implemented communication strategies, oversaw Congressional fact-finding missions, led Congressional and staff delegations abroad, and sought to advance Air Force priorities.

Lt. Col. Vaca is a career military officer whose 21 years of distinguished service included tours in Southwest Asia as Chief of Combat Operations during Operation Enduring Freedom and in the Pacific as Chief of Air Operations, Unites States Force Korea. Col. Vaca is a command pilot with over 3,200 hours in the F-15C Eagle, F-16 Falcon, and T-38 Talon.
