Victor Henderson Appointed Executive Partner for Holland & Knight's Chicago Office

CHICAGO – Holland & Knight Managing Partner Steven Sonberg has appointed Victor "Vic" Henderson to serve as Executive Partner of the firm's Chicago office. Henderson will oversee the day-to-day management of Holland & Knight's second-largest office, housing 125 attorneys and 75 staff, and the continued expansion of the firm's core practices in the Chicago market. Henderson took over the position on March 23.

Henderson, a trial lawyer and Long Island, N.Y., native, recently represented former County Board Public Defender Ed Burnette in a contentious, high-profile lawsuit against Cook County Board President Todd Stroger. In a unanimous ruling, the Illinois Appellate Court ruled that Stroger infringed on the authority of the Public Defender by improperly firing lawyers on Burnette's staff and by replacing one or more of the terminated lawyers with a political hire.

Henderson’s practice includes trial and appellate work in both state and federal court in cases involving complex commercial litigation, product liability and indigent criminal defendants. He has tried numerous jury, bench and arbitrations to verdict.
Henderson is the immediate Past President of the 22,000 member Chicago Bar Association, and was the association's fourth black president in 125 years. Before becoming a lawyer, Henderson practiced as a Certified Public Accountant.
