Holland & Knight to Honor Tampa Senior Partner, John Arthur Jones, for 60 Years of Service

TAMPA, Fla. – On May 19, 2009, Holland & Knight senior partner John Arthur Jones will be honored in an event to celebrate his 60 years of service to the firm, the legal profession and the Tampa business community.
The celebration, which is open to the media, will take place on May 19, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Holland & Knight's Tampa office, 100 North Tampa Street, Suite 4100.
In 1949, Jones joined the Tampa firm known as Knight, Thompson, Knight and Bell, which later became Knight, Bell and Jones, and which ultimately became Knight, Jones, Whitaker and Germany. In 1968, it merged with Holland, Bevis, Smith, Kibler and Hall to form Holland & Knight.

Jones is a member of the firm's Private Wealth Services team and emphasizes trusts and estates in his practice. His extensive knowledge of fiduciary administration, as well as his experience in many diverse areas of the law, keeps him in great demand, not only by lawyers within the firm, but also by clients and other attorneys who have become familiar with him and his practice through the years.
Earlier in his career, Jones specialized in banking law and frequently lectured in that area as well as was a member of a committee which revised the Florida banking code. Jones, widely known in legal circles as the "Father" or "Dean" of probate law, was also called the "Godfather" of the Florida Probate Forms. Jones serves as general counsel for clients with significant closely held business and commercial interests. He is certified in wills, trusts and estates under the Florida Certification Plan.
Jones is the only Florida attorney who belongs to both the American College of Trusts and Estates Council and the American College of Real Estate Lawyers. Jones has received numerous awards over the years and is active in several legal and Tampa-area community organizations. He graduated with honors from the University of Florida College of Law in 1949.
