For almost 50 years, lessors have had the ability to limit their liability for liens that arose from improvements to the leasehold made by a lessee. However, in the most recent legislative session, the Florida Legislature enacted revisions to Florida Statute ยง 713.10 that provide a potential pitfall for lessors by inserting a provision that may allow a contractor to lien the lessor's interest even where there is a recorded document advising of the limitation of liens.

CHICAGO – April 19, 2010 – Holland & Knight Managing Partner, Steven Sonberg is pleased to announce the appointment of Robert Vyverberg, as national Labor & Employment Practice Group Leader. Vyverberg is a partner in the firm's Chicago office.

"I am pleased to appoint Rob to Practice Group Leader for our firm's Labor & Employment practice group," said Sonberg. "Rob has extensive experience successfully defending private and public employers in all types of individual and class action litigation. Our clients and other lawyers throughout the firm will benefit from his leadership role."

Vyverberg focuses his practice on litigation matters, particularly in the areas of labor and employment and product liability law. In his labor and employment practice, Vyverberg represents employers in administrative proceedings before federal, state and local agencies, mediations and arbitrations, and state and federal lawsuits brought under a variety of statutes, including Title VII, Section 1981, the ADEA, the ADA, ERISA, the FLSA, the FMLA, the USERRA, OSHA, and the civil rights and employment statues of states and local municipalities across the country. Throughout his career, Vyverberg has represented clients in the manufacturing, retail, utility, distribution/logistics, financial services, health care, technology, hospitality, and transportation industries.

Vyverberg will oversee Holland & Knight's national Labor & Employment practice group, which includes approximately 40 lawyers practicing throughout the firm.
