Holland & Knight Attorneys Will Receive 2010 Robert B. Fraser Award for Pro Bono Excellence

Boston – April 28, 2010 – Holland & Knight is pleased to announce that Stephen Young and Joshua Miller, attorneys in the firm's Boston office, have been selected to receive the Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts of Massachusetts' 2010 Robert B. Fraser Award for Pro Bono Excellence. Young and Miller were the only individuals selected to receive this award.

The Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts (VLA) will present the award at their annual Martinis and Masterpieces event on June 23. The Fraser Award is given annually by the organization to law firms and individual lawyers. Honorees are chosen for their dedication to the artistic and cultural communities and serving their legal needs.

"We are proud of Steve and Josh's recognition for an award inspired by Bob Fraser's deep pro bono commitment and leadership in the Boston legal and business community," said Steven Wright, Executive Partner of Holland & Knight's Boston office.

"Both Steve and Josh are dedicated to their communities and reflect the firm's long-standing tradition of serving the community and the profession," said Buddy Schulz, Holland & Knight's Public and Charitable Service Department Chair. "The firm is proud that they will be recognized with this honor."

Young and Miller have represented several clients during their collaborations with VLA including, a visual arts organization in connection with lease issues; a visual artist in connection with infringements of her children's books drawings; a songwriter in connection with copyrighting of songs; folk singers in a recording contract dispute; the widow of a deceased comic in connection with estate administration and intellectual property rights; a non-profit art gallery and a non-profit writing studio in connection with obtaining tax-exempt status; and a painter and a visual artist in connection with estate planning. Young has worked with VLA for ten years and Miller, for two years.

As a partner Young has more than 30 years experience representing clients in civil cases. He concentrates in the areas of business and commercial litigation, copyright and trademark infringement litigation and alternative dispute resolution.

Miller is an associate and practices in the areas of estate and gift planning, estate and trust administration, business planning, charitable planning, non-profit incorporation and probate litigation.
