Holland & Knight Partner Tommy Boroughs Recently Appointed to the Century Commission for a Sustainable Florida

Orlando, FL – August 3, 2009 – Holland & Knight is pleased to announce that Tommy Boroughs, a partner in the firm's Orlando office, was recently appointed to the Century Commission for a Sustainable Florida.

Boroughs was appointed by Florida’s Speaker of the House to sit on the 15-member Commission that is charged with envisioning the future of the state of Florida and developing a strategic plan to achieve that vision. Members are chosen by either the state’s governor, the president of the Florida Senate or the Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives. Each leader has the opportunity to choose five members.

Established by the Florida Legislature in 2005, the Commission is charged with annually providing a written report to the legislature and governor addressing specific growth management and related issues and making recommendations as to how Florida can best accommodate population growth while maintaining its "quality of life."

Boroughs focuses his practice in zoning and land use regulatory matters as well as real estate development, acquisition and sales. He currently serves as the co-chair of Holland & Knight’s Florida Land Use Team. In addition to his considerable experience in zoning and land use, he also has extensive experience in various areas of real estate development, and transactional aspects of real estate, including purchase and sale negotiations, structuring and financing of complex commercial real estate transactions.

Between graduation from college and commencement of law school, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Radar Intercept Officer in an F-4 fighter/bomber (Phantom II) and is a veteran of the Vietnam conflict.
