The U.S. Supreme Court recently denied an employer’s request for review of a decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, which held that tipped employees spending more than 20 percent of their time performing related but non-tipped duties must be paid the full minimum wage for that time, without the tip credit.

Holland & Knight Partner Enrique Gómez-Pinzón Appointed Sole Arbitrator by ICSID

WASHINGTON, DC – August 25, 2009 – Holland & Knight is pleased to announce that Enrique Gómez-Pinzón, a partner in the firm’s Washington, D.C., office, was appointed sole arbitrator by the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) on a dispute between Elsamex, S.A. and the Republic of Honduras.

The dispute focuses on a highway construction project. Elsamex filed for arbitration on April 15, 2009, and the tribunal was constituted on August 18, 2009.

Gómez-Pinzón is a partner in Holland & Knight’s International and Cross-Border Transactions Group. He practices in the areas of cross-border investment and financing, mergers and acquisitions, international arbitration and project finance. Gómez-Pinzón is a recognized expert in the field of ICSID arbitration and disputes arising under multilateral or bilateral investment treaties. In addition to acting as an adviser and advocate, he is regularly appointed as sole arbitrator, chairman or co-arbitrator in international arbitrations, both institutional and ad hoc.
