New York City – October 27, 2009 – Holland & Knight is pleased to announce that Joseph Guay, a partner located in the firm's New York City office, was selected as an individual recipient of a 2009 Cornerstone Award presented by Lawyers Alliance For New York, in recognition of his outstanding pro bono legal services to nonprofit groups that are working to improve neighborhoods throughout New York City.

Joe is one of only eight individuals and two law firms who will be honored with this prestigious award at a ceremony in New York City. He was selected for assisting Bridge Street Development Corporation in creating affordable housing opportunities through his exceptional real estate guidance. Bridge Street's mission is to help residents of the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn acquire affordable housing through public and private financing.

Joe's practice is focused in the areas of real estate, business and commercial lending with a strong emphasis in hotel and resort development and hospitality law including hotel acquisitions and dispositions, development and finance, mixed-use development projects, hotel management agreements, branded residential projects, restaurant agreements and general hotel operation matters throughout the U.S., Latin America, Caribbean and Asia. He primarily represents national hotel brands as well as owners, pension fund advisors and investment funds, and real estate development companies, institutional lenders and investment banks.
