Chicago – March 1, 2010 – Holland & Knight is pleased to announce that Steven Elrod, a partner in the firm's Chicago office, has been elected chairman of the Constitutional Rights Foundation Chicago (CRFC) for a two-year term.
CRFC's 50-member board is comprised of highly respected jurists and educators in the Chicago area including Illinois Supreme Court Justices, Federal District and Appellate Court judges, law school deans and the managing partners of several of the largest law firms in Chicago. Elrod is an active participant in the Foundation's Eighth Grade Lawyer-in-the-Classroom Program; a program that pairs attorneys with elementary students to help them learn and understand the U.S. Constitution and U.S. legal system.

CRFC is committed to helping schools and young people understand the law, as well as think creatively and increase civic participation. Since its founding in 1974 as part of the Constitutional Rights Foundation in Los Angeles and independence in 1990, the Foundation continues to be a nonprofit and nonpartisan national leader for quality law-related education programs. Additionally, the Foundation has partnered with Holland & Knight's Opening Doors for Children Program to provide special educational programs to many elementary schools in the city of Chicago.

Elrod is chair of Holland & Knight's National Land Use and Government Team and represents private and public sector clients on a broad range of real estate development, zoning and land use matters.
