Senior White House Official Joins Holland & Knight As Partner

Washington, D.C. – March 15, 2010 – Holland & Knight is pleased to announce that Moe Vela has joined the firm's Washington, D.C. office as a Partner in the Public Policy and Regulation Group. Vela will focus mainly on business development and providing strategic counseling to firm clients, such as developing government relations strategies on the federal, state and local levels.

"We are delighted to have Moe on board at Holland & Knight," said Rich Gold, head of the firm's Public Policy and Regulation Group. "He is a skilled attorney who knows how law and policy intersect to impact business, and how to reach solutions that make sense. Moe has valuable and practical experience in real estate, local government and issues that affect the Hispanic community, and will be a tremendous asset for our clients."

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Vela served in the Obama Administration as Director of Management & Administration in the Office of Vice President Biden. Vela's main duty in this role was to manage the daily operations of the Vice President's office.

Vela was the first Hispanic in the U.S. to serve twice in the White House in a senior executive role. During the Clinton Administration, Vela served as Chief Financial Officer and Senior Advisor on Latino Affairs in the Office of Vice President Al Gore.

In addition to being recognized as one of the nation's Top 100 Hispanics, Vela brings a wealth of business and real estate experience. Prior to serving Vice President Biden, he was the co-founder of a successful multifamily real estate company that created a cutting-edge service and delivery platform focusing on Hispanic and ethnic minority renters. Vela has served in several executive management private sector roles in various business environments.
