TAMPA – Holland & Knight is pleased to announce that A. Brian Albritton, a litigation partner in the firm's Tampa office, has been nominated by President George W. Bush for U.S. Attorney of the Middle District of Florida. The nomination must be approved by the Senate. Once approved, Albritton will take over for interim U.S. Attorney Robert O'Neill.

The U.S. Attorney is the chief federal law enforcement officer for the Middle District of Florida and enforces the federal criminal laws in the District in the United States Courts, represents agencies of the United States in civil cases, and argues on behalf of the United States to the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

"This is a tremendous honor for Brian and our law firm," said Brad Kimbro, Executive Partner of Holland & Knight's Tampa office. "Brian is an extremely knowledgeable, experienced and fair-minded litigation attorney. I am confident that the people of the Middle District of Florida will be well served by Brian in this important leadership role."

The District includes 35 of the 67 counties in Florida and extends from the Florida-Georgia border near Jacksonville to the southern most boundary of Naples. The headquarters is located in Tampa, with branch offices in Jacksonville, Orlando, and Ft. Myers.

Albritton concentrates his criminal and civil practice in three related areas: white collar criminal defense; prosecuting and defending claims relating to trade secret theft, noncompetition agreements and other restrictive covenants; and advising clients and handling litigation involving telemarketing, direct mail marketing, consumer and unfair and deceptive trade practice claims brought by the Federal Trade Commission and Attorneys General.

Albritton received his B.A. from New College of the University of South Florida; his M.T.S. from Harvard Divinity School; and his J.D. from Boston College Law School. He has practiced law at Holland & Knight since 1990.
