EPA Now Accepting Proposals for Brownfields Grants

EPA expects to distribute $100 million in brownfields grants in FY 2005. Eligible organizations need to submit their applications no later than November 12, 2004.
Three types of grants are available:
• Assessment grants (up to $200,000 over two years) help applicants to inventory, characterize, assess, and conduct planning and community involvement related to brownfields sites.
• Revolving loan fund grants (up to $1 million over five years) help applicants capitalize a revolving loan fund and provide subgrants to carry out cleanup activities at brownfield sites.
• Cleanup grants (up to $200,000 over two years) go directly toward the cleanup of contaminated brownfields sites. These grants may now be used to address sites contaminated by either petroleum or hazardous substances or both.
