First Quarterly Report Due April 21, 2008

All entities registered under the Lobbying Disclosure Act (LDA) must now report lobbying activities quarterly instead of semiannually. The first quarterly report (Form LD-2) is due on Monday, April 21, 2008.

In addition, all LDA registrants and each individual listed as a lobbyist on a LDA registration or report must semiannually report certain political contributions and certify knowledge of and compliance with House and Senate gift and travel rules. The first report and certification (Form LD-203) is due July 30, 2008.

The Senate Office of Public Records recently began distributing Section 203 pre-notices to LDA registrants to verify each organization’s registered lobbyists. If you find any inaccuracies in the list of lobbyists provided by the Senate, updates should be made on line 23 of the first LDA quarterly report due on April 21, 2008.

LDA Reporting Deadlines for 2008 Activity:

April 21, 2008 – First quarter filing is due
July 21, 2008 – Second quarter filing is due
July 30, 2008 – Mid-year Section 203 report and certification is due
October 20, 2008 – Third quarter filing is due
January 20, 2009 – Fourth quarter filing is due
January 30, 2009 – Year-end Section 203 report and certification is due
