Commentators and consumer groups declared the end of digital rights management (DRM), a technology that prevents or minimizes the unauthorized distribution, copying or access to copyrighted materials. However, DRM remains an integral part of the new distribution of media as music and video downloading and streaming continue to grow in popularity. The article discusses DRM technology and its application to new media distribution platforms and how this is considered by courts and litigants.
