On July 31, 2008, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released its final rule and response to the 2008 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Proposed Rule in the August 19, 2008 Federal Register. The Final Rule implements significant and, in some cases, sweeping changes to the Stark law; it also clarifies CMS’ position on several important issues.
