Prominent Group of Private Wealth Attorneys Rejoins Holland & Knight

LOS ANGELES – A prominent group of private wealth lawyers, led by nationally recognized trusts and estates partner Bruce Ross, has rejoined the Los Angeles office of Holland & Knight. In addition to Ross, the group, which had been at the Los Angeles office of Luce Forward, includes lawyers Sean Higgins, Linda Rottman, Vivian Lee Thoreen, Jonathan Park and Tony Yu.

Indian Law: Alert - September 2, 2008

The Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and the BSA regulations require every Tribal casino to implement a written anti-money laundering program. The IRS oversees BSA compliance through a periodic audit process which is often referred to as "Title 31 Audits." In 2007 the IRS increased its efforts to monitor Tribal casino BSA compliance. Casinos that have been identified as a "problem" or as "uncooperative" can expect more frequent visits. This Alert covers common compliance "deficiencies."

Holland & Knight Expands Environmental Practice with Addition of Stacy Watson May

Jacksonville, Fla. – Stacy Watson May has joined Holland & Knight as Senior Counsel in the firm’s Litigation Section. Watson May practices environmental law and will work from the firm’s Jacksonville and Orlando offices. She is also a member of the firm’s National Environmental Team,  which includes lawyers practicing environmental litigation, environmental components of business and real estate transactions, wetlands and natural resources, environmental insurance and other specialty areas of environmental law.

Watson May was formerly in-house counsel with CSX Transportation, one of the five largest railroads in the United States.  At CSX, she was responsible for counseling internal clients in environmental compliance and enforcement actions across 23 states as well as the federal level, primarily under the jurisdiction of the USEPA and the Federal Railroad Administration.

She looks forward to continuing to counsel clients in environmental compliance and enforcement actions at the state and federal levels, utilizing her in-house experience to be an effective advocate for responsible corporate clients.  She will also continue to advise clients involved with real property transactions involving environmentally impacted properties.

She received her B.A. from the University of Florida in 1990 and her J.D. from the John Marshall Law School in 1997.
